Holland Park is a district and a public park in the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea in West central London.
Holland Park is widely regarded as one of the most romantic parks in London due to its abundant wildlife and secluded hideaways.
There are no official boundaries, but they are roughly South of Kensington High Street, West of Holland Road, North to Holland Park Avenue and East to Kensington Church Street.
The district was Rural until the 19th century, most of which was formerly the grounds of a Jacobean Mansion called Holland House. In the later decades of that century the owners of the house sold off the more outlying parts of its grounds for residential development and the district which evolved took its name from the house.
Holland Park is known for its leafy and tree lined roads with extremely large houses in pristine condition. Of course there is the park itself ( Holland Park) with its famous orangery, cricket pitch, tennis courts, Japanese garden and an impressive open air theatre with its back drop being the ruined remains of “Holland House.” In the late 19th century a number of artists including Frederic Leighton, Val Prinsep and art collectors lived in the area. The group were collectively known as the Holland Park Circle.
It is now one of the most expensive residential districts in London or for that matter the World Post codes –W8, W11, W14.
